Choose protection by its tradeoffs
Bronze armor offers more defense than Troll armor but slows movement; Troll armor has lower defense, no movement penalty, and can be repaired at a Workbench. Root Harnesk resists pierce but is weak to fire, Fenris Coat increases movement and resists frost, and Carapace Breastplate provides the highest armor values among these documented chest pieces while reducing movement.
The Bronze Plate Cuirass uses Forge levels one through four across its crafting and upgrade row. Every craftable armor piece except Rag Armor gains two armor points per upgrade level.
Documented chest-piece stats and costs
- Bronze Plate Cuirass: armor 8/10/12/14, weight 10, and -5% movement speed. Its row lists Bronze 5/3/6/9, Deer Hide 2/-/-/-, and Forge levels 1/2/3/4.
- Root Harnesk: armor 8/10/12/14, weight 10, and -2% movement speed. It takes 0.5x pierce damage and 1.5x fire damage, while the Root set bonus adds 15 Bows skill. Its row lists Root 10/2/4/6, Ancient Bark 10/5/10/15, Deer Hide 2/-/-/-, and Workbench levels 2/3/4/5.
- Fenris Coat: armor 10/12/14/16, weight 1, and +3% movement speed. It takes 0.5x frost damage, while the Fenris set bonus adds 15 Fists skill. Its row lists Fenris Hair 20/5/10/15, Wolf Pelt 5/3/6/9, Leather Scraps 10/4/8/12, and Workbench levels 2/3/4/5.
- Carapace Breastplate: armor 32/34/36/38, weight 10, and -5% movement speed. Its row lists Carapace 20/10/20/30, Scale Hide 3/1/2/3, Iron 5/-/-/-, Refined Eitr 4/2/4/6, and Black Forge levels 1/2/3/4.
- Except for Rag Armor, upgrading any craftable armor piece adds two armor points at each level.
- During the Bronze Age, choose Troll armor for lower defense without a movement penalty and Workbench repairs, or Bronze armor for higher defense with slower movement.
